What Are Semi-Custom Wedding Invitations?

You may be wondering, what exactly are semi-custom wedding invitations? For us at Hyegraph, we refer to these wedding invitations as ones that are pre-designed with borders, frames, florals, motifs, etc. However, don’t be deterred as you still have some customization options! At a minimum, you will always be able to personalize the entire wording with your own wedding invitation wording. After that, we can select different font styles that can help narrow down the look to one that perfectly suits you. Then, we can generally change the ink colors to make sure that your whole aesthetic remains cohesive. Last, but not least, there are options to add embellishments, such as envelope liners, belly bands, wax seals, vellum wraps, and more, to truly elevate your wedding invitation suite and make it perfectly yours. Semi-custom wedding invitations are a great option that offer some customization while also having a more affordable price tag and a quicker turnaround time than fully custom designs.

When Do I Send Out Wedding Invitations?

If you were to ask this question 10+ years ago, the standard answer would have been six to eight weeks before your wedding date. Nowadays, we typically recommend mailing out your wedding invitations anywhere between 2-6 months ahead of the big day. We still have some last minute rush jobs that end up being mailed out six weeks prior, but this pushes your RSVP timeline back and you need to make sure that you stay on top of the entire process. Depending on where you are located, the postal service may be a bit slower now than it was years ago, so that is something to consider, too. Greenery Oval Semi-Custom Wedding Invitation

From pistachio to emerald, and sage to olive, shades of green have been an extremely popular color to utilize for wedding invitations. This “Greenery Oval” wedding invitation suite by Carlson Craft features delicate white florals with a plethora of watercolor foliage. Keep the text in black ink for a classic and striking appearance, or change to grey or taupe for a softer look. The oval frame and ampersand on the invitation card is shown in copper foil, but you can choose from any metallic foil shade to best suit your style. Additional enclosure cards, such as the RSVP card and reception card, are also available a la carte if you need to add them. The stationery suite is kept together with a green belly band that can be personalized with your names, initials, wedding date, and more. We think this semi-custom design has a timeless charm that is perfect for rustic garden or al fresco vineyard weddings.

Delicate Laser Cut Enclosure Pocket Semi-Custom Wedding Invitation

Two of the most requested elements lately have been laser cuts and blind embossing, and you can have the best of both worlds with this “Delicate Enclosure” wedding invitation design by Carlson Craft. A beautiful leaf design is blind embossed on your choice of black shimmer, flaxen shimmer, silver shimmer, or white shimmer pocket. All the finer details are laser cut for a cool see through effect, adding additional texture to the sleeves. Our favorite part about this invitation style is how adaptable it is. Keep the black and ecru color scheme with elegant fonts for a formal black tie wedding, or switch up the ink colors to soft browns and greens with the gold shimmer pocket for a rustic garden vibe. Combining beautiful watercolor blush pink and dusty blue florals with leafy foliage, topped off with embossing, the “Decorative Framework” semi-custom wedding invitation is appealing to both the eye and to the touch. A simple blind embossed rectangular border frames the entire invitation wording, adding a simple elegance no matter the layout design you choose. Corresponding enclosure cards, such as a reply card and reception card, are also available so that all your wedding stationery will complement each other. Adding the optional panel pocket with personalized foil stamping detail completes the wedding invitation package, and functions as a space for all of your cards to live. While regular embossing has a raised effect without any ink, sculpted embossing literally takes it to another level. With much more detailed plates and multiple depths of embossing, these styles jump off of the page and give a truly luxe and opulent feeling.
