Ocean-Inspired Half Moon Bay, California Wedding

One of the best parts about living in the San Francisco Bay Area in California is that we have access to a plethora of geographies. It’s a great starting point for a weekend getaway. Drive in any direction for just about two hours, and you can find magnificent mountain ranges, hiking trails, wondrous wine country, and of course – the ocean. Half Moon Bay is an amazing destination to enjoy surfing, fishing, beaches, and the California coast. Madi & Jackson were married at the Oceano Hotel Hotel & Spa, and we adored creating their custom wedding invitations and stationery designs that represented them and their wedding aesthetics.

Ocean Wave Inspired Wedding Invitation Suite

Referred to us by a friend who used our wedding design services in the past (thank you, Soraya!), Madi’s mom Collette reached out to us to make an appointment for a free design consultation. After reviewing invitation samples in person, we honed in on a vision for their wedding aesthetic: shades of dusty blue, an ocean wave motif, and clean fonts. The finished wedding invitation suite featured double thick 100% cotton stock with pillowy letterpress, cool blue envelopes with printed guest addresses using our digital calligraphy, and a stunning vellum wrap. We found the perfect ocean wave motif to feature in different ways on the cards, while keeping the main invitation card simple and elegant. Guests raved about the wedding invitation suite and we loved all the special touches that represented Madi & Jackson. The wedding weekend was full of events for guests to join, including surfing, jogging, a pool party, rehearsal dinner, and Sunday brunch.

Oceano Hotel & Spa Half Moon Bay California Wedding Ceremony

With gorgeous oceanfront views, it was a no-brainer that Madi & Jackson’s wedding ceremony would be held outdoors. Taking this into account, and also keeping the design consistent with their wedding invitations, we created wedding ceremony program booklets that were put into cute baskets and handed out by the wedding ushers. Wedding ceremony programs are a great way for guests to follow along with the order of events, and also to name the wedding party. On the back cover, they had a message to honor those who are no longer with us, as well as a thank you note for their guests. As a bonus, we’ve definitely also seen guests use their wedding programs as a fan when the weather gets too warm.

Half Moon Bay Wedding Reception

Madi & Jackson’s wedding reception was absolutely breathtaking. Their wedding flowers in shades of whites, creams, and blue by Driftwood & Roses perfectly represented the California coastal chic aesthetic. For the kids, they had Crayola crayons and a coloring book to keep them occupied, which we thought was the sweetest touch! Upon entering the reception area, guests were greeted by the large seating chart we designed for them, featuring the same ocean wave motif for cohesiveness.

Wedding Welcome Bags and Cookies by Collette’s Confections

With guests traveling from both near and far to their wedding, Madi & Jackson made welcome bags to greet guests as they checked in to their Half Moon Bay hotels. The most darling little gift tags were designed with the matching ocean wave design, and were tied on to the welcome bags. However, the most special and personal touch was created by Madi’s mom herself – homemade sugar cookies in shapes of the California state, an ocean swell, and a surf board. We are so grateful she shared some behind-the-scenes photos of the entire project, and are so impressed with the creative wedding cookies that perfectly fit the theme!
