Paula Skene Designs Gold Foil Stamped & Embossed Ginkgo Greeting Cards
The above example of a Ginkgo Greeting Card/Note Card design is well suited for the Bay Area since the Ginkgo tree 1st appeared 250 years ago and now only found in the wild of China, of course it is grown throughout other regions. The Bay Area is largely influenced by Asian culture and traditions since there is a majority of Asian people who have immigrated and reside here.
The gold foil of the Ginkgo on the green has a rose tint and the gold foil stamped Gingko of the cantaloupe colored note card is an antique gold tone. It’s really quite different when you take the card out of the box and see the quality. When you correspond with one of these note cards you’re actually sending the recipient a gift because this is truly a piece of art. Each Paula Skene note card is individually stamped on the back with the Paula Skene Signature in Gold. In addition, each card is also stamped with gold on the card edging. This creates an extra touch of elegance and luxurious detail. These boxed note cards come in a box of 8 cards with matching ivory envelopes. The note cards retail at $18.00 a box at Hyegraph.
Here’s what Paula says inspired her to create the Ginkgo Design for her greeting card collection:
Ginkgo leaves are elegant and fascinating. I love the fine thin lines that start at the stem and fan out over the entire leaf. Each leaf has a different ruffle along the edge. In the fall with a gentle breeze they are shimmering fans of gold. After a rain their gorgeous silhouettes decorate the sidewalk in a random all over pattern. They are way more than just “a leaf”.
I was first introduced to Ginkgo leaves 30 years ago. A New Yorker phoned me to ask if I had a card with a Ginkgo leaf. When I said “no” and that I did not know what they look like he kept his promise and sent me a few. Thus began my fascination with their shape and texture.
